WriteBite is a site that pays you to write. Specifically, you get paid to write rants. Make money to complain. Etc. It’s a mix of Digg and Break.com kind of. Except rewards go to writters, not people videotaping themselves blow shit up (although explosives are fun too). I’ve been working on the new site for a couple of months, and it’s been a challenge at times but always fun. PHP and MySQL are being used on the backend right now, but I will probably write it in Python when I recode it. The entire process is exciting, from navigating around IE6 obstacles to planning out marketing and ways to break into the social networking arena.
One of the coolest unforseen facets of the project that recently became an objective is facebook integration. Facebook connect is a relatively new app and our site will (hopefully) be one of the first major sites to implement it. The idea behind it is that you can login to our site via your facebook account and a specific WriteBite site account will be automatically created and tied to the facebook one. Anytime you post, comment on a post, rate a post, etc. you’ll be given the option to display it in your facebook news feed – so stalkers can know your writing preferences too! In the future, an alternative named OpenID might be implemented; similar to facebook, but an OpenSource non-proprietary alternative used by Google and a few others currently. A huge benefit of using Facebook Connect is the ability to quickly join the WriteBite community. One click and you’re in. The site is community driven, and there are incentives to write a lot (money).
So check it out! The new design isn’t live yet, but the site currently exists as RantBlogger and you can start submitting rants now at WriteBite

I am a student studying Science and looking for ways to put my time to use to repay the debts in the meantime. This really is great info on getting paid to write. Thank you!
